Marine Conservation

Marine conservation is the protection and preservation of ecosystems in oceans and seas through planned management, aiming to prevent the over-exploitation of marine resources. This discipline has developed in response to biological issues such as extinction and marine habitats change, and relies on a combination of scientific principles from [[marine-biology|marine biology]], [[ecology|ecology]], [[oceanography|oceanography]], and [[fisheries-science|fisheries science]]. With the increasing awareness of the importance of marine ecosystems, marine conservation has become a crucial aspect of maintaining the health of our planet. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Ocean Conservancy are working to protect marine ecosystems and promote sustainable use of marine resources. The world's oceans cover over 70% of the Earth's surface.
